Shades of Summer - Arliwiau Haf

Bright green grasses contrast with magenta heathers on the banks of Llyn Lockwood, a perfect compliment to the summer showers.
Glaswellt gwyrdd llachar yn gwrthgyferbynnu hefo pinc y grug ar lannau Llyn Lockwood, camoliaeth perffaith i gawodydd yr haf.

Last Gasp - Anadl Olaf

Two brave souls from Blaenau Camera Club joined me on an outing to Moel-y-Gest in conditions which offered hope only to those with an optimistic outlook. Twenty minutes before sunset, we were rewarded for our efforts and patience.
Ymunodd dau enaid dewr o Clwb Camera Blaeanu a mi a'r wibdaith i Foel-y-Gest mewn amgylchiadau a fyddai ond yn cynnig gobaith i'r rheinni gyda rhagolwg optimistaidd. Ugain munud cyn machlyd haul cawsom ein gwobrwyo am ein hymdrech an amynedd.

Sunset on an Industry - Machlud haul a'r ddiwydiant

A poignant reminder of the current state of slate quarrying above Blaenau Ffestinog. How different it must have been the heyday of this industry.
Atgofion llym o sefyllfa presenol chwarelyddiaeth llechi uwch ben Blaenau Ffestiniog. Mor wahanol yr oedd yn nyddyddiau anterth y diwydiant.

Weatherbeaten - Wedi eu curo gan y tywydd

I have been trying to take a picture of this Goldenrod on the shore of Llyn Tegid for some time. Here it lies beaten by wind and rain, although the light was good....keep trying.
Yr wyf wedi bod yn ceisio tynnu llun yr Eurwialen hyn ar lannau Llyn Tegid am beth amser. Yma maent yn gorwedd ar ol cael eu curo gan y gwynt a'r glaw, er yr oedd y golau yn dda ..... daliaf i drio.

Yellow Peril - Perygl Melyn

Yellow Peril - Perygl Melyn

The bright greens and yellows of grasses, sedge and Monkeyflower, belie the fact that they are virtually floating on the waters surface, and prove very difficult to get close to.
Y ffaith fod y glaswellt gwyrdd a melyn llachar, yr hesg a blodyn mwnci yn fwy nai lai yn arnofio ar wyneb y dwr yn profi i fod yn anodd iawn fynd yn agos atynt.

Bleeding Heart - Calon Weudlyd

Whilst leaving the camera to work its magic during the taking of Meditation in the Rain, I took some time looking for beach detail and found this little scene.
Tra y gadewais y camera i weithio ei hud yn tynu y llun Myfyrdod yn y Glaw, cymerais amser i edrych o gwmpas am fanylion traeth pan welais yr olygfa fach yma.

Summer Loving - Haf Serchog

The Glyder at this time of year are a wonderful sight smothered in heather.
Mae Y Glyder yr adeg yma o'r flwyddyn wedi eu gorchuddio mewn grug yn olygfa fendigedig.

Growing Wild - Tyfu'n Wyllt

Growing Wild - Tyfu'n Wyllt

Montbretia growing wild on the banks of Llynnau Mymbyr cetainly adds a splash of colour to a dramatic morning.
Mae blodau Montbretia yn tyfu'n wyllt ar lannau Llynnau Mymbyr yn wir ychwanegu ychydig o liw i fore dramatig.

Sometimes...

I am fortunate to see many beautiful things in my work, sometimes they are special and as the mists rolled in and out over Llyn Llydaw, I will never forget the scene which unfolded, albeit very briefly, before me. I've seen brocken spectres often, but none with so many additional rings of colour, and none with Snowdon above the mists to finish the scene. After an initial grab shot, which showed more, but without Snowdon, I still managed to capture something of that fleeting moment.

Both Sides Now

Both Sides Now

Mist hangs over Llyn Llydaw on both sides of the causeway, whilst the early morning sun colours the Horns and the flanks of Crib Goch. The calm turquiose waters completing the scene.

Clearing Mists

After meeting up with friend and fellow photographer Adam Burton at Pen-y-Pass in thick fog, we were pleased to see the summit of Snowdon peer above the mists as we neared Llyn Llydaw. The calm waters and sunrise completed the scene.

Morning Catch

The light of sunrise catches the Horns and the top of floating mists, beautifully reflected in Llyn Llydaw.

Mymbyr Mists

Frost and mist combine to restrict the view and concentrate the eye on smaller attractions.

On this visit to my favourite ruined cottage, (so far), I was almost outdone by the snowdrifts which i had to walk through and climb over to get here. Arriving just in time, I was rewarded with a spectacular show of strength by the setting sun.

A touch of Warmth

The trees and hedges seemed to hold on to the warmth of the early morning sun glowing against the cold of the snow in this view of Monod and Manod Bach.

Going Nowhere

Going Nowhere

Fourteen inches of overnight snow effectively closed the lane to my car; still there's enough for a large snowman.

Last Gasp

During the shortened winter days, the school run is not timed in the most convenient way. Today I had agreed to meet my children in the Big Rock cafe, at the other end of the Cob in Porthmadog, where they could wait for me over a hot chocolate, on the basis of the forecast, which proved to be correct; everyone happy!

Edge of Nowhere

Freezing fog pulses in and out over Llyn Tegid, leaving behind frost covered trees and a distant view with no revealing scenery.
