Cool Blue

Cloud forming on the Glyder masks the sun from view but the ice on Llyn Bochlyd still reflects the weakened light.

Ice Blue

Despite, or maybe because of the conditions, the ice on Llyn Cau has a cool blue tone. A touch of brightness lifts Craig Cau temporarily from the gloom, although the cloud remained over Cadair Idris for the day.

Twin Peaks

Late afternoon sun strikes the cliffs of Craig yr Ogof, (Craig Cwm Silyn behind), which are partially reflected in the turquoise waters of Llynnau Cwm Silyn. (Limited Edition of 200)

Sunset Strip

Sunset Strip

Despite the beautiful soft light at sunset, the beach at Abererch remains deserted.

Spring Song

To the sound of a distant Cuckoo, humming bees and a light breeze, the sun occasionally broke through the cloud and brought the best from the colour of breaking buds in this view of the Llanberis Pass.

Simply Red

Simply Red

As the sun rose and cast its warmth, at its height it ignited the cliffs of Simdde Ddu and Yr Castell on the eastern flanks of Arenig Fawr in a fierce red. I was pleased to have been with a friend who was trying out his new, (birthday), polariser, to act as witness, the colour was so vivid.

Breath of Spring

As the evening sun warms the landscape of the Migneint, a cool breeze stirs the surface of Llynnau Gamallt in this view of Craig Goch.

Grass Fire

Grass Fire

For an all too brief moment, the last of the suns light caught the marram grass which, being blown in the fresh breeze, gave the appearance that the dunes were on fire.

Ogof's Horns

As the sun descends and its power decreases, a warmer glow is cast across the still dormant, winter like grasses in Cwm Silyn. From this angle the two peaks on Craig Yr Ogof are shown against the skyline like giant horns.

Down by the Dwyfor

Down by the Dwyfor

The mountains may still be reluctant to break free from the cold winter and hold on to their weatherbeaten grasses, but in the valleys, spring has won the battle and advancing at a rapid pace. Here Wood Anenome graces the banks of the Afon Dwyfor.

Bad Day at Black Rock

The occassional glimmer of late afternoon sun lifting the colour of the marshland below, teased me into staying longer than I should. After this point the weather just got worse, and even the black massif of Manod gave up to be engulfed in cloud.

Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening

The land awakens to Spring, and the day closes over Llyn Nantlle with cloud decending over the Nantlle ridge collecting warmth from the setting sun.

Blackpool

High up on the flanks of Cwm Teigl sits this pool in the centre of marshland, which I managed to find a way through to, drawn by the colour of the surrounding grasses, highlighted here by a glimmer of sunlight. Carreg Y Frân sits dark and threatening in the background.

Living Thatch

Living Thatch

The weight of the branches from this tree have eventually forced the rotting roof timbers in this derelict cottage to give way.

Across the Void

What started out as a stunning day to ascend Crib Goch with clear blue skies soon changed, as mists rapidly formed to deny the pleasure of any view. As conditions deteriorated and visibility was severly restriced, plans were changed for safety reasons. (Limited Edition of 250)

Bathed in Glory - Ymdrochi mewn Ysblander

The setting sun was far too powerful to think about an image looking towards it, but a turn to the north showed just how good the light was as it streamed across Llandanwg beach warming everything in its path.
Yr oedd yr haul yn machlud yn rhy gryf o lawer i feddwl am ddelwedd yn edrych tuag ato, ond wrth droi i'r gogeldd dangoswyd faint mor dda oedd y golau fel yr oedd yn llifo ar draws traeth Llandanwg gan gynhseu bob dim yn ei lwybr.

Crown of Flame - coron o Fflam

Another sunset hidden from view by heavy cloud, but through a break this 'crown' was highlighted on Moelwyn Bach.
Machlud haul arall wedi ei guddio gan gymylau trwchus, on drwy doriad amlygwyd y 'goron' hon ar y Moelwyn Bach.

Tangerine Dream - Breuddwyd Oranedd

As the sun rises behind the Moelwyn and Criccieth Castle, the calmness of this spring morning takes on a beautiful colour.
Fel mae'r haul yn codi o dy ol i'r Moelwyn a Chastell Criccieth, mae llonyddwch y bore yma o'r gwanwyn yn rhoi lliwiau hyfryd.

Diminished Dawn

The overpowering colour of dawn is subdued as cloud moves in from the west throwing the top of Simdde Ddu into shadow.

All is Calm

All is Calm

A change in the weather brings a morning of calm, damp and misty conditions, and here at Llyn Hafod-y-Llyn there is little movement other than the birds in the trees.
